Frequently Asked Questions
Learn how NDIS supports, accommodation vacancies, and care scheduling work at Assure Ability.
NDIS Planning & Funding
What NDIS funding categories do I need to access your services?
Most of our services are funded under NDIS Core Supports (specifically ‘Assistance with Daily Life’ for SIL, personal care, domestic cleaning, and STA, or ‘Assistance with Social and Community Participation’). Case management is funded under Capacity Building (‘Support Coordination’).
Can you help me prepare NDIS plan review evidence?
Yes. Our care coordinators regularly write progress summaries and compile service histories for NDIS plan reassessments. We assist you to demonstrate your support hours and goals to secure correct funding.
What if I am self-managed or plan-managed?
We can provide supports to all NDIS participants. If you are plan-managed, we submit invoices directly to your plan manager. If you are self-managed, we send invoices to you for direct payment. As a registered provider, we can also support NDIA agency-managed participants.
Supported Accommodation (SIL/Respite)
How is Supported Independent Living (SIL) funded?
SIL is funded under ‘Core Supports’ in your NDIS plan. It covers the wages of support staff who assist you with daily activities 24/7. It does not cover daily board, rent, groceries, or utility bills, which are paid separately from your personal budget.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL funding is for the care staff who assist you with daily tasks inside the home. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) funding is for the physical home structure itself, designed with custom accessibility features (such as ceiling hoists or wheelchair ramps).
How do I apply for one of your SIL vacancies in Sydney?
First, contact our intake officer on 1300 263 544. We will review your NDIS plan and clinical reports. If compatible, we schedule a home tour at Rossmore or Cabramatta, compile a Roster of Care (RoC), and submit it to the NDIA for funding approval.
Daily Living & Clinical Supports
What is included in community nursing care?
Our community nursing includes complex wound care management, medication administration plans, catheter care, PEG feeding management, and regular health checks conducted by AHPRA Registered Nurses (RNs).
Do you provide gardening and professional house cleaning?
Yes. We offer professional cleaning, disinfection, lawn mowing, weeding, and basic yard maintenance. These supports are funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life (specifically, ‘House Cleaning’ and ‘Yard Maintenance’ items).
Can you assist with travel and transport?
Yes. Our support workers can drive you to medical appointments, social activities, or grocery shopping using our clean vehicles, or guide and train you to safely navigate public transport systems.
Care Quality & Staff Matching
How do you select your support workers?
Every Assure Ability worker undergoes rigorous background audits, including NDIS Worker Screening Checks, National Police Checks, Working with Children Checks (WWCC), and first aid certifications. We assess candidate empathy and values prior to hiring.
Can I choose my own support worker?
Absolutely. We encourage choice and control. We arrange initial meet-and-greets between you and proposed support workers. If you feel they are compatible with your routine and personality, we assign them to your schedule.
What is your complaints resolution process?
We address all issues seriously. If you raise a complaint (via email, phone, or in writing), we acknowledge it within 24 hours, investigate solutions, and keep you informed. If unresolved, you can escalate the matter directly to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
